Sunshine Faces is lo-fi pop maverick Noah Rawlings, a North Carolina based musician who creates some of the most beautiful and ethereal music that we've heard in a long time.

"Peaked" is his second full length, which sees him move into a more shoegaze-y realm, creating lush and sprawling dreamy tracks to fall in love with instantly, all while keeping the signature DIY pop sound that has made him a person to watch in the scene. "Peaked" is fresh and captivating and most definitely not an album to sleep on, but one to fall asleep to.

I predominantly got this for the first track. The news reporter’s dramatised and slick narrativisation of human suffering, juxtaposed with wry reporting on a “celestial event,” that flattens both into equally streamlined consumerist fodder, is a problematic redoubled, and perhaps highlighted, by enjoying that very thing set to extremely funky music. Maybe there is some working through to do here… errantzephyr
