about

NYC's The Pluto Moons are something else, unique to the bone and beyond-forward thinking, as demonstrated on this new EP, "E$pooky".
Rather than trying to explain their ground-breaking style, we thought it'd be better to let them talk themselves:

“We are the Pluto Moons. We are Jachary on electric bass/vocals, Sam on drums/percussion, and Max on analog synthesizers/samplers/vocals. We strive to create a sound that does not exist in a singular genre or style. We wish to create an artistic space that frees itself from the confines of “scenes”, “genres”, and other categorizations, while maintaining an appreciation for the past, present, and future of music from around the world. Philosophically speaking, we come from a “Kill Your Idols” school-of-punk ethos. We believe progress lies in making connections between noise and pop, between hip hop and drone, between reggae and musique concréte. Once any of these sounds become commodified and copied endlessly, they lose the subversiveness and individuality that once made them so politically charged and innovative. So we ask ourselves: Can the bass replace a guitar? Can autotune exist in a punk rock setting? Would your Bushwick-ass noise band feel comfortable playing a set at an East Flatbush dancehall? Can we bridge a gap?” - TPM

For fans of Passion Pit, Frank Zappa and Baths.
